Aberdeen Art Gallery is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions. A particularly attractive example of late 19th century architecture, it houses one of the finest art collections in Britain with paintings, sculpture and graphics from the 15th century to the present day. Highlights from the rich and diverse decorative arts collection combines with an exciting programme of special exhibitions ensures that there is always something new for visitors to see. Designed by local architect Alexander Marshall MacKenzie, the splendid art gallery opened in 1885 and is the largest public gallery in the North of Scotland, attracting more than 200,000 visitors each year.
